Two workshops have been held to develop research on older people and disasters. They were an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn about current local and international work regarding older people and emergencies – their particular vulnerabilities and how they can play an important role in preparing and supporting their communities when disaster strikes.

 

Guest speakers were followed by a workshop where all participants were invited to consider research options in this area and how best to take this important and emerging work forward. A paper which addresses the concerns identified in the workshops will be available shortly.
