Douglas joined the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research (CADR) at Swansea University in September 2016 under the leadership of Professor Vanessa Burholt. Douglas' background is multifarious but he has specialised in medical statistics, formerly at the Tenovus Institute for Cancer Research, University of Wales College of Medicine, and at institutions elsewhere, and as a senior statistician in the Research Design Service at the universities of Durham and Southampton.

Douglas is a Chartered Statistician and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and he has a number of interests which include community health, endocrinology and chronobiology. A complementary background is published in The Open Nutraceuticals Journal, 2013, volume 6, pp51-55, where he has been honoured (in that volume) for his contribution to science.

Douglas looks forward to the challenges and successes of being part of the whole CADR team in bringing benefit to the quality of life of our ageing communities.
