Social care aspects of ageing
This work package will develop an academic stream of research on social care as it relates to older people, people with dementia and carers. This will be informed by policy and practice priorities, through consultation with key stakeholders and older people themselves. The work package will also further the 'Developing Evidence Enriched Practice' (DEEP) model in relation to older people working with a number of organisations (local authorities and 3rd sector) in South Wales. The Centre’s approach to translational research will be a strong element in bringing local authority social care together with business and industry.
Outputs of this work package include:
- Secure research funding on issues such as professional workforce development e.g. with the Care Council; on dementia friendly environments e.g. with Gwalia; on carers in the workplace with Carers UK and knowledge transfer with Age UK.
- High impact publications targeted at social care professionals
- Assist companies/local authorities/3rd sector organisations to build a research culture through a series of workshops.
- Provide a flexible response to policy questions related to social care and strengthen the evidence for policy and practice on ageing and social care
